Just
as Pavilion VII is an important part of the history of
the
University of Virginia, the Colonnade Club is an integral
part of its future. As a Club member, you have a variety
of opportunities to support both our growing faculty and
alumni network,
and the beautiful structure which houses our organization.
Contribute
We keep our Colonnade
membership dues low through the generosity
of donors whose gifts help to defray the necessary costs
of capital expenditures, such as the period pieces and
other
furniture you enjoy in our rooms. If you would like to
contribute to the Club, please send a donation to The
Colonnade Club, Pavilion VII ~ West Lawn, Charlottesville,
VA 22903. You may also contact Kristin Grimes, General
Manager at kgrimes@virginia.edu or
(434) 243-9730 for more information.
 Pavilion Society

Planned Giving - Easy, Meaningful
Philanthropy
U.Va. has numerous ways
to support its components financially.
Along with "outright gifts," planned giving is
often a good option to consider when supporting U.Va. Essentially,
planned giving offers donors a chance to act philanthropically
while preserving their income. For many, planned giving
is as simple as leaving the University a portion of their
estate through a bequest. This can easily be accomplished
by identifying the University as a beneficiary of your
will,
living trust, IRA or insurance plan.
Other methods of planned giving are vehicles that pay donors
an income based on their gift to the University. One of
these vehicles is called Charitable Gift Annuity, which
will pay a donor a fixed income for life, based on the value
of the gift and his or her life expectancy. A Charitable
Remainder Trust also pays a donor an income based on the
value of his or her gift. The payment to the donor is based
on a rate set by the University and not by age. Typically,
trusts held at the University pay from five to seven percent
of the trust value annually. And, as with outright gifts,
planned gifts may be directed according to donors' wishes,
or they may be left unrestricted to give U.Va. flexibility
to meet unforeseen needs.
Planned Gifts can be made in the form of cash, stocks,
mutual funds, real estate, or personal property. Different
assets offer different tax advantages, and it is wise to
consult your financial adviser to select the best way to
give.
U.Va.'s Planned Giving Office can help you determine the
gift plan that will best meet your particular financial
needs and your philanthropic intentions. Whichever gift
option you choose, you can be certain that your support
will be gratefully received. Your contribution to the Colonnade
Club, for example, would make a tangible and indelible difference
in the lives of faculty and the facility itself.
Planned Gifts may be made
online through the
U.Va. Fund. Simply record
the Colonnade Club next to "Other" in the
Gift Allocation section of the form.
In gratitude to those who make planned gifts, the University
has developed the Cornerstone Society. The Cornerstone Society
recognizes donors who have made planned gifts to any part
of the University, including bequests, living and testamentary
trusts, charitable trusts, gifts of retirement plan assets,
life insurance designations, gift annuities, and the pooled
income fund.
For more information on how you can make a planned gift
or to learn more about the Cornerstone Society, please call
the Development Office at (800) 688-9882 or (434) 982-2798,
or email plannedgiving@virginia.edu.
