Colonnade Club Bylaws

Colonnade Club members cherish the historic charm and inviting tranquility of Pavilion VII, the recently restored, yet most historic pavilion on Thomas Jefferson’s Lawn. Members take part in a wide range of events—everything from a Faculty Author Series to our annual Family Picnic. Many have enjoyed the privilege of finding a quiet spot within Pavilion VII or the Garden to relax, read, or write. Complimentary coffee, tea and cookies are available throughout the day. Members may also enjoy lunch in Hotel E at reduced cost.

Colonnade Club Member Benefits:

•	Use Pavilion VII’s parlors to read, write, and meet with colleagues or students.
•	Catch up on the latest news in the Club Room, which features a television, comfortable couches, and a wide variety of periodicals.
•	Enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies throughout the day in Pavilion VII.
•	Attend an exciting variety of social events at no or minimal cost.
•	Reserve space in Pavilion VII for meetings, receptions, or celebrations such as retirements, weddings, or anniversaries.
•	Reserve overnight accommodations in Pavilion VII, which include a complimentary continental breakfast.
•	Enjoy a 10% discount in the Garden Room, U.Va.’s faculty dining room, located in Hotel E on the West Range along McCormick Road.
•	Present membership card to receive a 15% discount on selected items at any U.Va. Bookstores location.

•	Nominate new members to the Club.

All full-time teaching and research faculty, general faculty, and administrative faculty are eligible to join the Club. Membership by nomination may also be extended to those holding part-time teaching and research positions, alumni, and certain people who perform important service for the University. All requests for non-faculty membership are reviewed by the Club's Board of Governors.

Resident, Non-Resident Members
Such persons as described above and who reside within Albemarle and its contiguous counties are called “resident members” of the Colonnade Club. “Non-resident members” are those who do not live in the vicinity of the University of Virginia.

Emeritus Members
People who have held Colonnade Club membership for at least ten years immediately prior to their retirement from the University of Virginia shall, upon such retirement, be eligible for Emeritus Membership. The request for such membership shall be made to the Manager at (434) 243-9730, or e-mail colonnadeclub@virginia.edu.

Departmental Membership
University departments can obtain membership in the Colonnade Club, which allows them a discount when reserving overnight accommodations for visiting speakers and other departmental guests. Departmental membership privileges also include reserving space for academic or social events. The annual fee for departmental membership is $250.

Resident and Non-Resident Members pay annual Club dues of $126.00. University employees may elect to have that amount deducted monthly from their pay checks. Nine-month employees electing that option, therefore, would only pay $14 monthly for Colonnade Club membership.
